Karachi: Reports emerge of underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim’s critical health condition in a Karachi hospital, allegedly targeted by unknown assailants with poison. While international media covers the incident, Pakistan has yet to confirm the situation officially.
The 65-year-old Dawood has resided in Karachi for several years, and heightened security measures are in place at the hospital where he is being treated. Access is restricted to top hospital officials and family members only. Mumbai police are reportedly seeking information from relatives Alisha Parker and Sajid Wagle regarding Dawood’s admission to the hospital.
Last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had placed a bounty of 25 lakhs on Dawood Ibrahim’s head. Alisha Ibrahim Parker, the son of Dawood’s sister Haseena Parker, disclosed recently that Dawood resides in Karachi and has entered into a second marriage. According to the nephew, Dawood’s second wife is of Pathan descent.
Dawood Ibrahim is a notorious figure wanted by India for charges including organized crime, terrorism, and drug trafficking. He is known as the mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai terror attacks, resulting in the death of 250 people and injuries to around a thousand. Earlier reports suggested serious health issues for Dawood, including the amputation of two toes at a Karachi hospital, marking a stark contrast to his past as a prominent figure in the Mumbai underworld.
