New Delhi, India – In a historic development, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, is scheduled to inaugurate India’s inaugural green hydrogen fuel cell bus on Kartavya Path in Delhi this Monday, as reported by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). This groundbreaking initiative is part of Indian Oil’s comprehensive endeavour to conduct operational trials featuring 15 fuel cell buses powered by green hydrogen, operating along designated routes spanning Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The official launch event commences with the unveiling of the initial two fuel cell buses at the iconic India Gate.

This ambitious project represents a remarkable milestone in India’s sustainable transportation landscape as it introduces the provision of green hydrogen at an impressive 350 bar pressure, exclusively tailored for fuel cell bus operations. Indian Oil has further fortified its commitment by establishing a state-of-the-art refuelling facility situated at its esteemed R&D campus in Faridabad. This facility is fully equipped to replenish green hydrogen, generated through electrolysis utilising solar PV panels—a visionary step towards a greener and more sustainable future.
