Dublin: Eligible voters in Ireland’s upcoming November 29 general election have until Tuesday, November 12, to register. First-time voters can complete registration online. Irish and British citizens residing in Ireland, aged 18 or older by election day, are eligible to vote if listed on the electoral register. Voters can check the register to confirm their status.
Irish citizens residing abroad face certain restrictions on voting, while foreign nationals living in Ireland are permitted to vote in local elections but not in general elections.
Following an increase in constituencies from 39 to 43, Ireland’s Dáil Éireann now seats 174 TDs, up from 160, with representation allocated at one TD per 20,000 to 30,000 residents.
Irish and British citizens aged 18 or older and registered on the voter list are eligible to vote. Individuals without a permanent address can still register, although voters with multiple addresses must register at only one. Registration can be completed online at [checktheregister.ie] or in person at local authorities.
Those without a Personal Public Service (PPS) number must have their application and ID certified at a Garda station or local authority. Registration details may be updated online throughout the year.
