Dublin: The Department of Justice has issued a notice advising applicants seeking to renew their IRP cards before the Christmas holidays to ensure their applications are submitted by October 31. Currently, the renewal process for an IRP card takes approximately 3–4 weeks; however, a significant surge in applications is expected during the Christmas season.
After the successful completion of the renewal process, it may take an additional two weeks for applicants to receive their new IRP card by post.
The Ministry has issued a reminder to foreign nationals who are legally residing in the country and plan to travel during the Christmas holidays to submit their renewal applications through the ISD online portal no later than October 31, 2023.
Due to the existing processing time of approximately 6 weeks, the Immigration Services Registration Office may not be able to process any renewal applications submitted after October 31, 2023, and issue the IRP card in time to facilitate holiday travel during the Christmas season, as stated in a ministry press release.
