Dublin: Deliveroo has introduced its first-ever drone delivery service in Dublin, a global debut for the platform. In partnership with Irish startup Manna, the service is initially available to customers within a 3km radius of Blanchardstown, offering meals from local favourites like Musashi, WOW Burger, Boojum, and Elephant & Castle.
Capable of speeds up to 80 km/h, the drones complete deliveries in as little as three minutes, lowering food via a biodegradable tether for a contactless drop-off. Deliveroo plans to expand the service to include groceries and retail items within six months.
The trial aims to assess the potential of drone technology for reaching suburban and hard-to-access areas, with real-time tracking and address verification through the Deliveroo app. Dublin now leads in food delivery innovation, becoming the first city globally to host Deliveroo’s aerial service.
