Dublin: Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar addressed a question regarding the possibility of Air India launching a direct flight service from Ireland to India during an interactive session with students at University College Dublin (UCD).
While engaging with Indian students on a wide range of topics, the eagerly anticipated question about the Dublin-Delhi direct flight service emerged. In a light-hearted response, Dr. Jaishankar remarked that the query would be better directed to someone else, as Air India had been privatised years ago.
However, the minister indicated that several private Indian airlines are awaiting the delivery of high-quality, large aircraft to expand their international operations. He expressed optimism that new services may be introduced once the aircraft become available.
Dr. Jaishankar received a warm welcome from the student community at UCD, an institution where many prominent Indian figures, including former Indian President V.V. Giri, pursued their education. Currently, more than a thousand Indian students are enrolled at the university, reflecting the growing academic ties between India and Ireland.
