Dublin: Holyhead Port’s damaged pier will partially reopen to ferry traffic next Thursday, restoring normal capacity for both Stena Line and Irish Ferries on the Holyhead-Dublin route. Ferry services had been suspended since early December due to damage caused by Storm Darragh.
Taoiseach Simon Harris and Welsh First Minister Eluned Morgan welcomed the reopening, describing it as positive news for freight and passengers on this key route. Mr. Harris acknowledged the collaborative efforts between governments, port authorities, and ferry operators to address the disruption and emphasised the importance of ensuring long-term resilience in sea connectivity between Ireland and Wales.
The Welsh Government has established a task force to modernise Holyhead Port, with assurances of Irish representation to support mutual interests.
