India delivered a commanding performance to defeat Pakistan by 61 runs, becoming the first team to qualify for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup. Defending 175/7, India bowled Pakistan out for 114 in 18 overs, extending their dominance over their opponent in the tournament’s history.
Pakistan’s chase faltered from the outset, losing four wickets inside the Powerplay. Hardik Pandya struck in the opening over, while Jasprit Bumrah followed up with a pinpoint yorker to dismiss Saim Ayub. Despite a brief resistance from Usman Khan, who fell six short of a half-century, Pakistan never built sustained momentum. Hardik Pandya, Bumrah, Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy claimed two wickets each to wrap up a clinical bowling display.
Earlier, Ishan Kishan set the tone with a blistering 77 off 40 balls, registering his second successive half-century of the tournament. Contributions from Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh ensured India posted the highest total in India-Pakistan T20 World Cup encounters. Although a brief middle-order wobble slowed progress, India maintained a scoring rate close to 10 runs per over. In the end, India’s all-round dominance with bat and ball secured a comprehensive victory and early progression to the next stage.
