Dublin: Ireland’s annual inflation rate increased to 3.6% in March, up from 2.5% in February, according to data from the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices released by the Central Statistics Office.
The rise was primarily driven by energy costs, which surged 11.1% the month and 12.3% year-on-year, largely due to disruption in global supply linked to the Middle East conflict and reduced shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
Food prices fell slightly by 0.3% the month but rose 2.3% , while services increased by 0.9% monthly and 3.3% annually. Core inflation, excluding energy and unprocessed food, rose by 2.6% over the past year.
