Dublin: Milk prices in Ireland have experienced a sharp increase, rising by 43% over the past year, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The Agricultural Output Price Index Report highlights a significant uptick in prices received by farmers for their products, with overall farmer remuneration increasing by 19.7% compared to the same period last year.
Key price movements from the report include:
- Potatoes and mutton: Up by 15.5%
- Cattle: Up by 8.3%
- Chicken meat: Up by 1.5%
- Eggs: Down by 3.7%
- Electricity: Down by 19.5%
- Fodder: Down by 12.1%
- Fertiliser: Down by 9.7%
- Plant protection products: Up by 4.8%
The CSO also noted a monthly increase in agricultural output prices, which rose by 3.6% in September compared to August, while input prices fell by 0.8%.
