Dublin: More than 92,000 applications have been submitted under the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme following the widespread damage caused by Storm Éowyn in January, which left 788,000 people without power and disrupted water supplies. The Department of Social Protection has issued 45,600 Stage 1 payments, totalling nearly €11.2 million, to cover immediate emergency needs. While Stage 1 closed on April 25, Stages 2 and 3—covering household items and home repairs—remain open and are subject to means testing.
