Philippines: At least 60 people have been confirmed dead after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck Cebu province on Tuesday. Rescue operations are ongoing, with many injured rushed to hospitals.
The quake’s epicentre was located 19 km northeast of Bogo, where 14 deaths were reported. Landslides and falling debris blocked rescue efforts in mountain villages, while roads and buildings suffered severe damage.

The centuries-old Parish of Saint Peter the Apostle in Bantayan partially collapsed, with videos showing walls crumbling amid panicked screams.
Tsunami Warning and Risks
A tsunami alert was initially issued for Cebu, Leyte, and Biliran but later lifted. Cebu’s governor, Pamela Baricuatro, warned that the final toll may rise as assessments continue.
