Dublin: A refugee who allegedly made repeated death threats against female staff has been removed from the Ballygunge International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centre in Dublin and transferred to another facility in west Dublin.
The individual is reported to have sent multiple threatening emails to staff and to have engaged in inappropriate behaviour towards female employees. Following these incidents, authorities acted to remove him from the centre.
In a letter, Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan said that decisions in such cases must take into account the public interest, law and order, and the health and safety of both residents and staff at accommodation centres.
Gardaí stated that they are not in a position at this time to confirm whether a criminal investigation into the alleged threats is underway.
The Department of Justice said it could not provide further details about the individual involved but confirmed that action was taken in response to breaches of IPAS rules.
