Dublin: Revenue officials at Dublin Airport have seized cocaine worth €160,000 as part of an intelligence-led operation. The 2.35 kg of cocaine was intercepted in parcels originating from India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Thailand, and Spain. These parcels were intended for delivery to various addresses across the country.
Recent Seizures Across Ireland
In addition to the airport operation, recent raids conducted in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare yielded contraband valued at over €880,000. The seized items included:
- Cocaine: Disguised in shipments of engraved leather organisers and yoga wear.
- Herbal Cannabis: Over 30 kg, with an estimated value of €611,300.
- Other Illicit Substances: Worth approximately €3,000.
- Counterfeit Goods: 251 products valued at €83,000.
- Alcohol: 458 litres, valued at €10,000.
- Cigarettes: 1,310 units, worth €1,200.
- Cash: €9,900, seized from a passenger at Rosslare Airport.
Operation Details and Investigations
Revenue’s detector dogs—Sam, Enzo, and Ciara—played a crucial role in identifying drug parcels during inspections in Dublin and the Midlands. The cash seizure in Rosslare is suspected to be linked to undeclared or illegal activities, and an investigation has been launched into the origins of the seized drugs and unaccounted funds.
