RSA Study: One in Four E-Scooter Users Involved in Collisions

Dublin: New research from the Road Safety Authority (RSA) reveals that 24% of e-scooter users have been involved in a collision, while 32% have experienced near misses—all reported incidents involving male users. The study found that e-scooter use is most prevalent among those under 35, with 65% of users based in Dublin and 97% living in urban areas. Safety concerns persist, with 36% of respondents believing current speed limits are too high, and only 60% reporting regular helmet use. RSA board member Dr John Cronin warned of increasing injury rates, urging shared responsibility on roads to prevent serious accidents.
