Dublin: Met Éireann has issued a warning for potentially stormy conditions across Ireland over the Easter weekend, with unsettled and mixed weather forecast from Friday onwards.
The warning, issued on Wednesday afternoon, comes into effect from midnight and highlights the risk of strong winds and possible storm activity in some areas, particularly on Saturday.
Forecasters have also cautioned about an increased risk of coastal flooding. Areas along the Atlantic coast, especially in western and northern regions, are considered most vulnerable. The combination of high astronomical (spring) tides, storm surges, and persistent onshore winds could lead to waves overtopping coastal defences and flooding low-lying and exposed locations.
Residents in at-risk areas are being urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant. Authorities have advised the public to monitor updates via official channels, including the Met Éireann website, mobile app, and social media platforms.
Weather expert Alan O’Reilly also indicated that there is a possibility of storm development on Saturday, reinforcing concerns about deteriorating conditions over the holiday period.
