Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on social media that Coca-Cola has agreed to replace high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) with real cane sugar in its U.S. beverages—a shift the company has not yet confirmed publicly.
Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote:
“Had spoken with Coca-Cola about using real cane sugar in Coke in the U.S. They have agreed to do so. This is a very good move on their part.”
Despite the statement, Coca-Cola has issued no official response confirming a change in the formulation of its U.S. products, which currently contain HFCS—a widely used sweetener that has been the subject of growing public health concern.
