Beijing: The United States has accused China of conducting widespread hacking activities targeting telecommunications networks in numerous countries, including the U.S. itself. According to White House Deputy National Security Advisor Anne Neuberger, Beijing allegedly infiltrated eight U.S. telecom companies and compromised networks in dozens of other nations.
The U.S. claims that the hacking efforts allowed China to gain unauthorised access to phone data, intercepting text messages and call conversations from numerous individuals, including American citizens.
Neuberger indicated that further details on the scope and impact of the cyber intrusions would be disclosed soon. The accusations underscore mounting concerns over China’s alleged cyber-espionage campaigns targeting sensitive communication systems globally.
