Dublin: Starting today, a range of budgetary benefits designed to alleviate living expenses will provide relief to hundreds of thousands of families across Ireland. These one-time payments, which do not require applications, are expected to ease financial pressures. Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys announced that this week and the coming weeks will see a steady rollout of these lump-sum payments, each set to be credited alongside primary payments.
Today, a double child benefit payment will reach 667,000 families, benefiting over 1.2 million children. Tomorrow through Friday, a €400 disability support payment will be distributed to 213,000 individuals with physical disabilities. Additionally, over 400,000 families will receive a €300 fuel allowance this week to help manage heating costs. On Thursday, a working family payment of €400 will be issued to 46,000 families.
Minister Humphreys noted these payments are designed to address the financial stress many families face, with a total of five lump-sum supports announced in the budget to follow in the coming weeks, including additional carer support, a second double child benefit payment, and Christmas bonuses.
