Dublin: A major €8 million innovation and enterprise hub, Catalyst HQ, has been unveiled for the south-east, aiming to strengthen manufacturing, export-led and technology-focused businesses across Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford.
The project is expected to generate 175 direct and 175 indirect jobs over its first 15 years. Two modern facilities will be built on O’Brien Road in Carlow, with construction scheduled to begin in mid-2025 and completion targeted for 2028.
Catalyst HQ will provide businesses with support in international trade processes, market intelligence, and advanced technologies to boost competitiveness. The initiative is led by South East Catalyst Innovation Company CLG in partnership with Carlow County Council, Carlow Chamber, SETU, Propellor BIC, and other regional stakeholders. Funding includes support from Enterprise Ireland’s Smart Regions Enterprise Innovation Scheme.
Described as a “first of its kind” by adviser David Walsh, the hub will pair state-of-the-art infrastructure with a strong network of experienced entrepreneurs and professional services. Carlow County Council’s Kieran Comerford highlighted its potential to help micro-businesses scale and drive long-term economic growth in the region.
