Fianna Fáil’s Popularity Hits a Two-Year Low

Dublin: As the local and European elections loom, Fianna Fáil finds itself grappling with a decline in public support, hitting its lowest level in two years, dropping from 16% to 14%, according to the latest Red C/Business Post opinion poll. This downturn puts added pressure on Micheál Martin’s leadership.

Meanwhile, Sinn Féin emerges as the frontrunner in popularity, garnering support from 27% of the populace, marking a two-point increase in public favour.

However, Eamon Ryan’s Green Party experiences a slight setback, losing one percentage point in support, with only three percent of voters backing the party.

Simon Harris’s assumption of leadership in Fine Gael fails to yield significant gains, with a modest one-point increase bringing their support to 20%. Meanwhile, independent candidates witnessed a two-point surge in popularity, reaching 19%.

Stability characterises the standing of the Labour and Social Democrats parties, maintaining their respective levels of support at three and six percent. Conversely, both the Anti-Austerity Alliance-People Before Profit and Solidarity-People Before Profit parties see a decline in popularity, each dropping by one percentage point to four and two percent, respectively.
