Boxing emerged as India’s standout sport, with the contingent securing 10 medals, including seven golds and three silvers, marking the country’s best-ever boxing performance at the Commonwealth Games. In weightlifting, Mirabai Chanu made history by winning her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal, while Indian lifters finished with a total of eight medals.
In athletics and para-athletics, India claimed 16 medals (three gold, seven silver and six bronze). Gulveer Singh became the first Indian athlete to win two track medals at a single Commonwealth Games, while Tejaswin Shankar secured India’s first-ever Commonwealth Games decathlon medal with bronze.
With the Glasgow Games concluded, attention now shifts to Ahmedabad 2030, where India will host the Commonwealth Games for the first time since Delhi 2010 and aim to surpass its best-ever medal tally while delivering a successful home edition.
