Dublin: June 2025 was Ireland’s fourth-warmest June on record, according to Met Éireann’s monthly Climate Statement. Despite a cool start, the month recorded an average temperature of 15.1°C, with all weather stations reporting above-average temperatures compared to the 1981–2020 long-term average.
Phoenix Park registered a record nighttime low of 19°C, while Mount Dillon in Roscommon saw the year’s highest temperature at 29.6°C on 20 June. June also ranked as the 24th wettest since 1941, with most stations recording above-average rainfall.
The high temperatures were influenced by a European heatwave at the end of the month, with Ireland on the northern fringe of the heat dome, experiencing humid nights and elevated minimum temperatures.
Experts warn that climate change is contributing to warmer nights, potentially impacting sleep patterns and prompting greater demand for energy-intensive cooling systems like air conditioning. Notably, five of the top ten hottest Junes have occurred since 2006, with 2023 being the warmest on record.
