Dublin: The Meteorological Service has issued a yellow weather alert for 19 counties in Ireland, warning of severe cold and icy conditions. The affected counties include Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, and Westmeath. The alert will remain in effect until 11 a.m. today.
Weather Outlook for Today
The forecast predicts minimum temperatures plummeting to as low as -3°C. While the day is expected to remain dry and generally overcast, some regions could experience heavy snowfall. High temperatures are forecasted to range between 1°C and 6°C, with the western half of the country anticipated to be particularly cold and snowy. Light northeasterly winds are also likely, and heavy fog is expected in the eastern parts of the country by Wednesday.
Extended Forecast and Christmas Weather Predictions
Although a slight rise in temperatures is expected tomorrow, the cold weather may return later this week. Meteorologists are predicting the possibility of a “White Christmas,” with heavy snowfall expected from December 23 in various regions, including Cork and Donegal.
However, forecasts from Weather Outlook X suggest that the return of storm activity to Ireland before Christmas could potentially alter the weather pattern.
