Dublin: Met Éireann has issued a yellow wind alert for 11 counties, warning of potentially hazardous conditions and difficult travel. The advisory will remain in place from 4pm until midnight.
The alert covers Clare, Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Wexford and Wicklow. Forecasters warn that strong south-westerly winds could lead to falling trees and branches, as well as rough coastal conditions and elevated waves.
Today’s conditions are expected to remain largely cloudy, with rain and drizzle developing later. While the morning is forecast to be mostly dry, heavier rainfall is likely to shift southwards during the afternoon.
In Northern Ireland, a yellow rain warning issued yesterday for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry remains active until 9pm. Ongoing rainfall poses a risk of localised flooding across parts of the region, Met Éireann added.
