Minus five in Ireland, orange alert for 19 counties from this evening
DUBLIN: A “Status Orange Alert” will be in effect for nineteen counties in the country this evening due to low temperatures and ice warnings.
The Met Office has warned that the temperature will drop below minus five during this orange alert, which will be in effect from 6 p.m. today to Thursday afternoon. Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Portlaoise, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Leitrim, and Roscommon are now included in the orange category weather list.
The Met Office has warned of “extreme cold” overnight, with temperatures dropping to -5 degrees.
As temperatures drop, heavy snow and fog are expected in all counties.
Another status yellow warning is in effect for all other counties across the counties until Friday.
