In Ireland, the Green Party will collapse and Sinn Féin will advance; Opinion polls
Dublin: Sinn Fein will be the largest single party in the next general election in Ireland, according to opinion polls. Sinn Féin is also set to become the largest party in the Dáil with 67 seats, according to an exclusive projection by the Sunday Independent.
A new analysis of opinion poll data and polling company Ireland Thinks shows that Mary Lou Mc Donald’s party will double the number of TDs it holds at the next election, expected next year or early 2025.
However, Sinn Fein’s chances of winning the 87 seats required to form a government in the Dáil are slim.
The survey predicts 21 percent of votes and 40 seats for Fine Gael. Fianna Fail may receive 18% of the vote and 35 seats.
The Social Democrats are likely to make a big breakthrough. They are expected to receive 6% of the vote and nine seats.
The Green Party may suffer the greatest loss. Estimates are that they will lose 3 percent of the votes nationwide. It is predicted that their presence will be reduced to one seat. With only three seats up for grabs, the Labour Party will maintain its current support without making a significant difference.
However, independents could win up to 10% of the vote and fifteen seats.

Opinion polls say that Fianna Fail and Fine Gael will not win more than 75 seats. They, too, are unable to form a government but may be able to form coalitions with smaller parties or independent TDs with a narrow majority.
However, if Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil form a coalition, political experts predict that they will be in power with a 102-seat majority. They also take into account that Fianna Fail no longer has the old affinity for Sinn Féin.
