Sinn Féin Maintains Strong Lead in Irish Politics Ahead of Next Election, Latest Poll Shows

Dublin: According to the most recent opinion poll conducted by the Irish Times/Ipsos Group, Sinn Féin is poised to remain Ireland’s largest single party after the next election. With 9 months until local elections and 18 months until the upcoming general election, Sinn Féin holds a commanding 14 percent lead over its closest competitors.

The latest figures indicate that Sinn Féin has surged to 34 percent support, marking a three percentage point increase, as a response to growing public discontent with the current government. Fianna Fáil has experienced a 20 percent approval rating, a decrease of one percent, while Fine Gael maintains an 18 percent support level, remaining unchanged. Meanwhile, the Social Democrats and the Green Party have seen a decline in support, while independent candidates are gaining ground.

Mary Lou McDonald, the leader of Sinn Féin, continues to hold the title of the most popular party leader, with 42 percent of respondents expressing satisfaction with her performance. This places her slightly ahead of Fianna Fáil leader Michael Martin, who has a 41 percent approval rating.
