Controversial Guidelines from HSE, became a reason for virus spread

HSE said nurses and other health workers could continue to work even if they had been in contact with Covid patients.

It has also come to light that about 70 health workers were made to work like this during the epidemic without any quarantine.

Including the Health experts at Trinity College, say that the guideline is is totally wrong and it could create a lot of concerns.

The guideline, which was updated last month, says management can allow health care workers to return to work if they have no symptoms.

It has been reported that 70 health care workers, including nurses, have been given exemptions from continuing work during the pandemic despite their close association with Positive Covid-19 patients.

Indications are that the lack of staff is what drives the authorities to take such a hard line.

However, no Covid test positive or symptomatic workers were assigned to the job. Hospitals say the proposal is being used only in moderation.

However, experts point out that this decision is dangerous during Covid-19. This increases the risk of the virus spreading at hospitals and other places.

Trinity College Experimental Immunology prof. Kingston Mills said that there is a basis for such concerns.

But trade unions say the finding that, only 70 people have been hired in this way is untrue.

The unions point out that the virus spread happened in most nursing homes and hospitals are the aftermath of such exemptions from the Department of Health.
