India on High Alert as Pakistan Reportedly Plans Major Counteroffensive
New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions following Operation Sindoor, which targeted and destroyed multiple terrorist camps in Pakistan, reports indicate that the Pakistani military is preparing a significant counteroffensive against India. In response, India has intensified security measures along its borders and is actively monitoring the situation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet with the president to seek formal authorisation for further military action, which may include a decisive operation to dismantle Pakistan’s remaining defensive capabilities.
On Thursday night, in a show of heightened preparedness, the Indian Army successfully intercepted and neutralised 50 Pakistani drones aimed at airports and military installations across Punjab. This attack came less than 24 hours after India launched precision airstrikes on Pakistani military targets in 15 cities.
The Ministry of External Affairs officially confirmed that Pakistani aggression has been effectively contained. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, joined by Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, addressed a press briefing on Thursday. They reaffirmed India’s commitment to avoiding escalation, but warned that this position could change if Pakistani provocations continue.
India’s robust defence was made possible by its integrated unmanned aerial defence grid and advanced missile systems. Central to Thursday’s success was the deployment of the Russian-made S-400 air defence system and India’s indigenous ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ missile defence platform. The Sudarshan Chakra, capable of tracking and eliminating aerial threats—including drones, fighter jets, and ballistic missiles—at a range of up to 600 kilometres, played a key role in neutralising the latest wave of attacks.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh praised the performance of India’s defense systems, attributing the mission’s success to the technological superiority and readiness of the armed forces.
