Meath Road to Close for Three Months for Major Water Pipeline Works

Meath: A busy local road in Duleek, Co Meath, is set to close for almost three months to facilitate the installation of a new water pipeline.

Meath County Council has announced the proposed closure of the L-1609-9 Cannonstown Station Road, which runs between the L-5612-10 Cruiserath Junction and the R-150 Station Road Junction in Duleek.

The closure is required to allow the water authority to excavate the road and install the new pipeline as part of ongoing water infrastructure works.

Road to close from September 7

The road will be closed to traffic from 8am on Monday, September 7, 2026, until 8pm on Sunday, December 6, 2026.

The closure will operate 24 hours a day throughout the works. However, access will be maintained for local residents and property owners in the affected area.

Motorists will be required to follow designated diversion routes, with appropriate signage installed throughout the duration of the closure.

Members of the public who wish to make observations or submissions regarding the proposed road closure have been invited to do so in writing.
