Beersheba, Israel – A powerful missile strike on Soroka Medical Centre in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba has caused extensive damage and injured several individuals, according to official reports. The attack, believed to be the most intense missile assault from Iran to date, occurred early this morning.
Footage shared on social media showed plumes of smoke, damaged hospital infrastructure, and chaotic scenes of people fleeing the area. A spokesperson for Soroka Medical Centre confirmed that the facility sustained significant structural damage, and authorities have since issued a warning urging the public to avoid the area due to the risk of a possible chemical spill.
An Israeli military spokesperson stated that dozens of ballistic missiles were launched into Israel during the assault, striking three additional civilian areas. Explosions were reported in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and other regions, marking it as one of the largest coordinated missile attacks in recent days.
Israeli Response Targets Iranian Nuclear Facility
In retaliation, Israel reportedly conducted a precision airstrike near Iran’s Khondab heavy water reactor, a key component of the country’s nuclear energy infrastructure. Prior to the strike, Israeli authorities issued evacuation warnings to residents in Khondab and Arak, emphasising potential safety risks.
Iranian state media outlet SNA confirmed the Israeli strike near the facility but assured the public that no nuclear threat exists, as the reactor had been evacuated in advance. Iranian officials emphasized that no radioactive material had been compromised.
This latest escalation marks a sharp intensification in hostilities between Israel and Iran, amid ongoing regional tensions and growing international concern over the stability of the Middle East.
