Water Disruptions in Dublin, Wicklow, and Kildare Over Bank Holiday Weekend
Dublin – Water supplies in parts of Dublin, Wicklow, and Kildare will face disruptions during the August Bank Holiday weekend, as urgent repairs are carried out on a key pipeline.
Critical Repairs to Major Pipeline
The affected pipeline connects the Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant in Kildare to the Saggart Reservoir in Dublin, supplying water to nearly one-third of the Dublin region. The Water Authority has confirmed multiple leaks and announced that teams will work around the clock to complete repairs.
Areas Affected and Alternative Measures
Residents in Kill, Arthurstown, Rathmore, Athgoe, and parts of Tipperary will experience disruptions, with alternative water supplies arranged. Other surrounding areas may also face reduced supply or pressure.
Public Urged to Conserve Water
The public is advised to limit non-essential water use, including car washing, power hosing, and using appliances like dishwashers and washing machines—especially from the evening of August 2 to the morning of August 4.
The Water Authority recommends turning off all taps to avoid airlocks when supply returns and reminds the public not to drink water from bathroom or hot taps. Regular updates will be available on the official website.
