Dublin: Dublin Port has captured 1,100 kilogrammes of tobacco worth 605,000 euros that was smuggled from India to Ireland. Revenue officers made the seizure while conducting routine profiling. The tobacco had entered Ireland from the Netherlands. A Revenue spokesperson stated that enquiries into the matter were underway. This is part of Revenue’s ongoing efforts to tackle smuggling and shadow economy activity. The spokeswoman stated that if businesses or the general public have any information regarding this, they may reach Revenue confidentially at 1800 295 295.
