COVID-19 testing facilities to be opened at Dublin Airport

New Covid-19 testing facilities are to be initiated at Dublin Airport from Thursday.

The testing centers are privately run by the companies Roc Doc Health Check and Randox.

Passengers can have walk-in or drive-through tests. Those who opt for walk-in tests will be charged €99 each, and will be issued with results between 24 and 48 hours later.

Depending on the type of drive-through test selected- the PCR or LAMP variety – and the speed with which results are needed, passengers will be charged between €129 and €159.

From Thursday, officials at the testing facilities will be able to carry out a maximum of 12,000 tests a day, with capacity set to rise to 15,000 shortly.

All consumers will be able to avail of the service whether they intend to travel or not. Managing Director at Dublin Airport Vincent Harrison welcomed the Government’s recent decision.

Those who wish to avail of the tests will have to pre-book online with the service provider. The Randox walk-in testing facility will be situated in a building near to Terminal Two’s multi-storey carpark, while RocDoc will run a drive-through centre in the Express Green carpark.

The testing services have been introduced following the implementation of the European Union’s traffic light system for international travel, which sees participating countries designated red, orange or green by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) depending on the current rate of COVID-19 infection.
