Boots offers Covid-19 testing service in its selected stores

Boots Ireland has become the first pharmacy in Ireland to offer a Covid-19 testing service in its stores. Today onwards the new service will be available on selected Boots stores.

Boots clearly says that the new testing service will only be available for customers without Covid-19 symptoms.

€139 will be the in-store test costs and the test result will be made available for the customers within a day. 

The pharmacy said the price includes the costs of lab testing, product materials, in-store infection control measures, courier service, staffing and VAT. 

The testing service will be available in seven stores with plans to roll out to further stores across Ireland after demand is assessed. 

Today onwards testing service will be available in the following Boots stores:

Letterkenny Retail Park in Co Donegal, Gateway Shopping Park, Knocknacarra in Co. Galway, Half Moon Street, in Co Cork, Naas Monread Shopping Centre in Co Kildare, Dawson St in Dublin 2, Church Street, Tullamore in Co Offaly and Ashbourne Town Centre in Co Meath.

The company said that the testing service is being launched as a response to the new Government guidelines that came into effect on November 29.

As per the new guidelines the passengers arriving from an orange, red or grey region – as determined by the EU traffic light need to get a negative/not detected PCR test taken a minimum of five days after arrival in Ireland.

Boots stores testing could help them to get an early result as well as the accessibility will also be smooth and easy.

The pharmacy also said that: “However, it is important to note that a negative test does not preclude people from observing Government guidelines which must continue to be adhered to at all times.”

The company said that these tests are specifically for customers who do not have any Covid-19 symptoms. “Anyone with symptoms must follow the latest Government or HSE guidance to access testing.”

Customers can book for the test a day before the test is scheduled. The company said that customers can book themselves using the https://www.boots.ie/covid-19-testing-service website.

There will be an online pre-screening before people come for the test to ensure that they are not having any symptoms at present. The testing will be available from 9am to 1pm.

After the test, the customers will be given the result on the following day.
