Covid-19: Healthcare assistant died on Christmas Eve

Mariter Tarugo (60), a healthcare assistant at a Dublin Hospital died a week after contracting the Coronavirus. she passed away on Christmas Eve.

Mariter Tarugo, worked at St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin. She was originally from the Philippines, Mariter lived in Dalkey in Dublin with her husband, daughter and two grandchildren.

The Philippine Consulate Dublin in a statement said that it had sent their condolences to her family.

“We offer her daughter Nice, husband Nicolas, and grandchildren Axl and Arabella our thoughts and prayers during this dark time in their lives.” 

The funeral service was held yesterday on New Year’s Eve. Because of the ongoing Covid restrictions, only ten mourners could attend.

The funeral service was also streamed online to allow her friends in Ireland and the Philippines to view the ceremony.

Mariter died in the St Vincent’s University Hospital on the Christmas Eve, she was surrounded by her family. The St Vincent’s University Hospital describer Mariter as a valued and popular member of their team.

In a recent statement released by the hospital it said that Ms Tarugo is mourned by her colleagues in the hospital.
