Survey shows there will be more recruitment in Ireland this year despite COVID crisis
DUBLIN: It is reported that there may be more recruitments in Ireland this year despite the COVID-19 crisis.
Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic, a new survey by Hays Ireland found that Irish employers are more likely to recruit in the next 12 months. Hays surveyed 2,171 Irish employers and employees last year.
The survey also found that 86% of Irish employers expect their organization’s performance to increase or stabilize this year. In addition, the survey found that 56% of employers plan to hire permanent employees and 34% plan to hire temporary or interim employees.
The report also points out that the chances of recruitment are much higher compared to last July’s survey. Last time, only 24% of employers decided to hire permanent employees. Nine per cent said they would hire temporary staff.
At the same time, 46% of employers were optimistic about the economic situation and job opportunities over the next two to five years, while 65% of employees said they were concerned. Meanwhile, 53% of employees said they would change their roles within a year. But 45% said they would change their careers. 36% of workers want to actively change their roles. According to the survey, this is due to better package, lack of future opportunities and job security.
At the same time, 45% of professionals said they would consider career changes over the next one year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the report, 17% of people plan to find a new career path in the near future.
At the same time, Hays Ireland director Maureen Lynch said job seekers’ preferences had changed in the COVID context and that employers should update their hiring strategy accordingly.
