Ireland will remain very cold throughout the week; Met Éireann predicts sleet and snow over coming days
DUBLIN: Met Éireann said it’s likely to be very cold throughout the week with sharp ice and frost at nights. It says temperatures could reach as low as -3 tonight (Monday).
Met Éireann said that tomorrow (Tuesday) is going to be “very cold”, with bright or sunny spells. Scattered sleet and snow is expected in the eastern half of the country and in the south of Munster. Temperatures could reach -4 on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, yesterday was a cold day across the country, as Met Éireann had predicted earlier. The announcement said the situation would remain the same till Wednesday. However, no weather warning has been issued yet.
Although there were some bright spells with high temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees yesterday afternoon, it was cold and mainly dry last night. Sleet and snow were predicted for the northern half of Leinster and eastern half of Ulster. Lowest temperatures ranged between-2 and 2 degrees with a widespread severe frost and icy patches.
Meanwhile, AA Ireland has advised motorists to be careful while driving in the coming days. There is a possibility of snow and ice conditions on the roads across the country.
Motorists are advised to reduce their speeds when driving on icy or snowy roads. They should pay close attention to cyclists and pedestrians.
