Five-kilometer travel limit in Ireland will be lifted by April 5
DUBLIN: The Department of Health has revealed a significant decline in the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
There were 597 patients in the hospital yesterday evening, including 135 in the intensive care unit. For the first time in 2021, the number of people seeking hospital treatment for COVID-19 has dropped below 600.
Ten COVID-19 patients who were being treated in the ICU were among those died yesterday. According to government figures, yesterday’s the highest number of deaths due to the virus in ICUs in Ireland since the COVID-19 outbreak.
A 16-year-old boy also include among those died yesterday. The death toll from the virus in Ireland now stands at 4,237.
Restrictions will be eased
Taoiseach Micheál Martin hinted at the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party that Level five restrictions could be relaxed, including outdoor activities, sports, construction activities, and 5 km travel restrictions, from Monday, April 5.
If NPHET’s recommendation is positive, work to exit from the lockdown will begin in early April.
