No Matches in Three Counties for Two Weeks

All GAA and Soccer matches in Kildare, Laois and Offaly has been cancelled and shutdown as the government imposed new lock-down in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new lock-down is applicable in three Leinster counties.

The new lock-down begun from the midnight of August 7 and this will continue for the next two weeks.

The new lock-down had seriously altered the plans of GAA County Boards as well as soccer leagues in these counties. GAA county boards have confirmed the shutdown.

The latest lock-down will create a tight schedule for the County boards because they are already behind the dates to complete their championship programme.

 As the Taoiseach announced the latest restrictions, the County boards of Offaly and Laois canceled and suspended all the activities.

Offaly GAA PRO Brendan Minnock said “It is very disappointing that we have had to take this action but we had no alternative but to follow the government guidelines.”

All soccer activities in the affected counties is now suspended by the FAI. The association said that the association is suspending all the football activities for now because of the recent announcement made by the Taoiseach Micheal martin. Association said that there won’t be any programs until further notice.

The association also made an apology statement for the inconvenience caused, in the statement they also request the people to follow the guidelines from the government and the health departments.
