A man has been found dead after incendiary devices were thrown at a Home Office migrant centre in Dover

LONDON: One person was injured in a bomb attack on the UK immigration office. Unconfirmed reports suggest that a bomb was detonated near the office that processes applications for asylum seekers crossing the English Channel in small boats. There have also been unconfirmed reports that he committed suicide as a result of this.

A man threw two or three explosive devices at the Western Jetfoil Border Force centre in Dover, England’s southernmost port. According to police, the bomber was apprehended and the fire was put out.

According to Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick, it was a serious incident. Natalie Elphicke, the Conservative MP for Dover, described the incident as “shocking.” The MP also revealed that the bomber committed suicide after throwing the bomb. However, the police have not confirmed this. The MP added that it is not clear what motivated him to do this.

At the same time, the influx of migrants after leaving the European Union is a major political headache for the UK government. According to the government, 990 migrants were discovered crossing the Channel in small boats on Saturday alone. As stated by the government, the number of refugees reached a new record of 40,000 this year.

Interior Minister Suella Braverman announced a plan to send migrants illegally crossing the Channel to Rwanda, but this is facing legal hurdles. French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged more cooperation to reduce dangerous crossings across the Channel, according to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
