Ahmedabad Plane Crash: No Survivors Expected, Rescue Operations Underway

A London-bound Air India flight with 242 people on board crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport on Thursday. Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik confirmed that no survivors are expected and additional casualties are feared at the medical college and residential area where the aircraft went down.

The flight included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian passenger. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is reportedly among those on board.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ordered urgent rescue and relief efforts. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and Home Minister Amit Shah are en route to the crash site.
