Brazil soccer legend Pele shared a million-dollar post on Messi on social media

Lionel Messi “completed football” on Sunday after leading Argentina to a long-awaited FIFA World Cup trophy sweep with a thrilling victory against France in the final at the Lusail Stadium. Kylian Mbappe’s astonishing late double in 97 seconds neutralised Messi and Di Maria’s first-half goals, forcing extra time. To cancel out Messi’s second goal, the 23-year-old equalised for the second time in the game. Argentina won the World Cup for the first time in 36 years, defeating France 4-2 in a penalty shootout. Following the final, Brazilian soccer legend Pele shared a million-dollar post on Messi on social media, along with his sympathies to “dear friend” Kylian Mbappe.

Argentina was congratulated by Pele, who agreed that Messi deserved to win the trophy. He also praised Mbappe for scoring a World Cup final hat-trick, the first since 1966. He also praised Morocco for their miraculous journey to the semifinals.

“Today, football continues to tell its tale in an exciting way, as it always has. As his career has deserved, Messi has won his first World Cup. Mbappe, my beloved friend, scored four goals in a final. What a blessing it was to see this show for the sake of our sport’s future. And I couldn’t help but applaud Morocco for its outstanding effort. It’s wonderful to watch Africa shine. Argentina, congratulations! “I’m sure Diego is smiling now,” he wrote.
