COVID-19: 13 further deaths and 371 new cases confirmed yesterday

DUBLIN: The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has confirmed 371 new COVID-19 cases in Ireland yesterday. The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 247,857.

The NPHET also confirmed that 13 further death had been recorded in the country, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 to 4,896. The average age of the deceased was 85 and the age range was between 60 and 95.

Of the cases confirmed yesterday,

● 190 were men and 181 were women

● 77% are under 45 years of age

● The median age is 28

● 131 of the new cases are in Dublin, 38 in Kildare, 33 in Donegal, 18 in Cork, 17 in Meath and the remaining 134 cases are spread across 17 other counties.

The 14-day incidence rate in Ireland is 121.2 per 100,000 of the population. Donegal has the highest incidence rate at 288.3 cases per 100,000 population, followed by Kildare and Offaly at 213.5 and 182.1 respectively. Kerry (20.3), Kilkenny (26.2) and Wexford (31.4) have the lowest incidence rates.

As of yesterday morning, 153 COVID-19 patients were hospitalised, with 45 in ICU.
