Decreto Flussi 2023: Italy requires 82,705 foreign workers this year, the government states

Rome: The government has set a quota for foreign workers who can work in Italy this year. Flussi 2023’s new order has come as per the DPCM dated December 29, 2022.

According to official government figures, Italy requires 82,705 people in various jobs this year, with 44,000 of those positions reserved for seasonal jobs.

This year, Italy will hire 38,705 people in non-seasonal and self-employment sectors, with the majority (30,105 jobs) going to non-seasonal subordinate jobs in the transport, construction, and tourism-hotel sectors, as well as foreigners in the mechanics, telecommunications, food manufacturing, and shipbuilding sectors. Italy will recruit for the job.

From March 27, 2023, all applications will be accepted online. The final visa decision will be made within 30 days. The new scheme’s changes have been designed to allow you to begin working in Italy within 60 days of completing the online checks.

The new policy clarifies the possibility of expanding opportunities for skilled foreign workers. Those who are currently in Italy illegally or as students are also eligible to apply for the Flussi 2023. If their application is approved, they will be able to return home, re-enter Italy, and begin working.

Is the new change a setback for foreign workers?

Every year, Italy hires for seasonal jobs like this. The decree (Decreto Flussi Decree of 2023) issued after the Meloni government took power, however, has changed.

This means that before an employer in Italy is willing to hire a foreign worker, they must ensure that no other workers willing to do the job in question are registered for employment in the area where the company is located. The policy of the nationalist Meloni government is to consider foreign workers only after considering them.

Can the employer ignore those who have registered for employment?

An employer can ignore those who have registered for employment for the following reasons:

1) If the employee does not respond to the employer’s application within fifteen working days.

2) If the proposed employee is unsuitable for the job being offered by the employer.

3) If the employee fails to appear for the selection interview after twenty working days for no apparent reason.

The employer must attach a statement to the application for employment authorisation that the above circumstances have occurred.

Seasonal workers and foreign-trained workers are exempt from this requirement. More information will be updated later.
