Dublin may undergo another lockdown

The chances are getting high for the next possible lockdown in Dublin as the Covid cases getting increased day by day. The death toll in Ireland has risen sharply, with more and more cases being filed each day.

Yesterday alone, three people died of Covid in Ireland. This brings the total Covid death rate to 1,781. Another concern is that 51 of the 84 new Covid cases reported yesterday were in Dublin. At the same time Limerick is also turning into a Covid hotspot as the virus is spreading miserably.

The senior minister warned that local lockdowns would be imposed in Dublin and Limerick by Friday if the number of Covid victims does not decrease.

He said that a lockdown, similar to that in Offali and Kildare, will be implemented in Dublin and Limerick as the number of cases in these areas getting increased day by day.

According to the HSE, although the number of hospital admissions has declined over the past few months, the number of people seeking Covid treatment has increased again.

So far, 30,164 people have been diagnosed with Covid in Ireland and within one night, the number of Covid cases in the hospital jumped to 50.

Deputy Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has expressed concern over the sharp rise in Covid cases in the country.

He said he wanted the ‘Glassgow approach’ to take place in Ireland, which is by avoiding the closure of businesses and schools and cutting home gatherings and parties.

He said he was concerned about the possible consequences of implementing the new regulations and a second lockdown.

Currently there are no restrictions on people visiting friend’s and relatives’ houses. Varadkar warns that in the context of the Covid outbreak, it may change very soon.

Instead of closing schools, childcare and businesses, Ireland will now move to tougher measures to avoid domestic congestion.

Varadkar said pubs in rural Ireland would open on September 21, but that would not be the case in Dublin.

As of midnight on September 7, the Health Care Observatory estimated that 70.8 out of 1 million people in Dublin were infected with the Covid-19, six days ago it was 53.2.
