Elon Musk says X, will remove a protective feature that lets users block other accounts

Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, said that the business will remove a protection feature that allows users to ban other accounts, in yet another controversial decision for the company he purchased last year.

The block function on X lets a user to prevent particular accounts from contacting, seeing, or following them.

“Block will be removed as a ‘feature,’ except for DMs,” Musk stated in a platform post, referring to direct messaging.

He stated that X will keep the mute function, which prevents a user from viewing certain accounts but, unlike blocking, does not notify the other account.

The wealthy owner has described himself as a free-speech absolutist, but some critics have said his approach is irresponsible. Since he assumed control, researchers have found an upsurge in hate speech on the site, and several governments have criticised the firm for not doing enough to moderate its content.
