Final Day to Register for Ireland’s November 29 General Election

Dublin: Today is the last chance for Irish citizens to register to vote in the general election scheduled for November 29. To check registration status, individuals can visit [www.checktheregister.ie]. For first-time registration, users must provide their PPS number, date of birth, and Eircode. Dublin residents may also register via [voter.ie]. Anyone aged 18 or older who lives in Ireland is eligible to vote, though each individual can only register from a single address, even if they have multiple residences. People without a fixed address, including those experiencing homelessness, are also entitled to register and vote.

Youth Vote as a Decisive Factor

Ireland’s youth vote is set to play a critical role in the upcoming election, with an estimated 600,000 people between 18 and 29 eligible—approximately one-fifth of the adult population. A recent REDC poll indicates that many young people feel neglected by political parties. According to Kathryn Walsh, Director of Policy and Advocacy at the National Youth Council of Ireland, “One of the most effective ways to address this disconnect is to encourage young people to participate in the voting process.”
