Garda seizes 2,400 illegally stored firecrackers

As tight restrictions are imposed all across the country on all kinds of celebration, Garda seized illegally stored firecrackers.

Fireworks are now regularly marketed in Ireland ahead of Diwali celebrations.

The Garda seized 2,400 firecrackers during a search of various parts of Dublin Eight.

The inspection was part of Operation Tombola, which began last month ahead of Halloween.

Officers from the Kevin Street Divisional Drugs Unit on Friday seized more than 2,400 fireworks worth 1,800 euro during a search of an object in the South Inner City.

Officers said that the illegal sale of firecrackers was carried out using social media.
